This sweet and tangy pizza sauce, inspired by Mark’s Pizzeria, is rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. Made with tomato sauce, brown sugar, and Italian herbs, this sauce adds the perfect sweetness to homemade pizza.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 15 oz can tomato sauce
  • 1 6 oz can tomato paste
  • 3 tbsp brown sugar adjust to taste
  • 1 tsp honey for extra sweetness
  • 1 tsp olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp dried basil
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes optional, for a mild kick
  • 1/2 cup water to adjust consistency

Instructions
 

Step 1: Sauté Garlic

  • Heat olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat.
  • Add minced garlic and sauté for 30 seconds, until fragrant.

Step 2: Mix the Sauce

  • Stir in tomato sauce, tomato paste, brown sugar, honey, onion powder, oregano, basil, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes.
  • Add water and stir until well combined.

Step 3: Simmer for Flavor

  • Reduce heat to low and let the sauce simmer for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Taste and adjust sweetness or seasoning as needed.

Step 4: Cool & Use

  • Let cool slightly before spreading on pizza dough.
  • Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 5 days, or freeze for up to 3 months.

Notes

Want it sweeter? Add extra brown sugar or honey.
Prefer a tangy kick? Stir in 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar.
